Privacy Policy

MelodyMatch ("we", "our", or "the app") is a multiplayer music guessing game. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it.

1. Data We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to run the app:

Email address: Used for account creation and login.
User ID: A unique identifier generated when you create an account.
Game data: Room codes, song selections, guesses, and scores created during gameplay.

We do not collect your name, phone number, location, contacts, photos, or any other personal information.

2. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely for app functionality:

Authentication: To let you sign in and maintain your session.
Gameplay: To match you with other players, track scores, and run game rounds.
Account management: To let you delete your account and all associated data.

We do not use your data for advertising, analytics, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the app.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties.

Your email is stored securely by Supabase (our backend provider) and is never exposed to other players. Other players only see the nickname and avatar you choose.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure with encryption at rest and in transit. Authentication tokens are managed securely by the Supabase SDK on your device.

Game data (rooms, songs, guesses) is transient and associated with game sessions.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the home screen. When you delete your account:

Your auth account is permanently deleted.
All your player records, guesses, and song submissions are deleted.
This action is irreversible.

Game rooms you participated in may persist but will contain no data linked to your identity.

6. Children's Privacy

MelodyMatch is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us so we can delete it.

7. Third-Party Services

The app uses the following third-party services:

Supabase: Backend, authentication, and database. Subject to the Supabase Privacy Policy.
Spotify: Music playback via the Spotify SDK. Requires a Spotify account and is subject to the Spotify Privacy Policy. We do not access your Spotify listening history or playlists beyond what you explicitly select in the app.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access your data (your email and game history).
Delete your account and all associated data.
Contact us with any privacy concerns.

Terms of Use

By using MelodyMatch, you agree to the following:

You must be at least 13 years old to use this app.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.
You will not use the app to harass, abuse, or harm other players.
You will not attempt to exploit, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the app's systems.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the app.
